Sagrada Familia is the largest unfinished Roman Catholic church in the world. This iconic building in Barcelona is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Spain. Its construction began in 1882 and has been incomplete for over 140 years. The chief architect Antoni Gaudi dedicated his whole life to this project, and still, by the time of his death, less than a quarter of the basilica was complete. Visiting the breathtaking Sagrada Familia today also means witnessing a giant red crane and the slow progress toward the completion of the project. Sagrada Familia is now expected to be completed in 2026, the centenary of Gaudi's death.
